Next week monday I will leave on a journey to Italy. Me and my class will be going by plane. My reason for going there is that I am fortunate enough to take part in some archaeological fieldwork focused on Crustumerium. This is a settlement where we will be digging at the Necropole. Mostly chambergraves and graves cut out of tufa are the subject of our research. The project has been going on for many years already, but it's my first time. It will be hard work and lots of getting up early (5 AM daily), but we do get siestas and some free time in the weekends. I'd like to see Rome again...Crustumerium is closeby so it's definately an option. B

Hey y'all, I decided the last journal post was too heavy. Who wants to see that while trying to enjoy some fine art on a sunny spring day? You shouldn't be sitting behind your beloved PC anyway, it's such great weather out. So many pretty girls in skirts etc. Either way I guess I'll have to give you an update on my life now that I started this journal page. I have only one class at the moment, archaeobotany. In it we have to study plants and how they were used by cultures of the past, how you can find them and what you can conclude from the evidence. Kinda like CSI I suppose. Last week I heard a friend of mine and classmate was found dead in his appartment. He was already missing for a week, but after we got worried and called his parents to ask if they might know where he was, his parents called the cops and etc etc... It turns out he killed himself. We knew he wasn't always 'feeling well', but we never expected he was in such a bad shape as to not see a point in living anymore. We're one week further now, it's still so surreal. It's only two weeks ago I still sat on his couch and ate soup with him, play a little worms and bitch at tv... Many people who have met him are shocked; he was such a nice, calm, respe
